PATS participant awards and grants

Caroline Cottman, the Senior Academic Developer with the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Centre for the Support and Advancement of Learning and Teaching (C-SALT), was awarded a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning from the Australian Government’s Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) in 2014. She was recognised for academic development activities that created ‘ripples on the pond’ by inspiring and motivating scholarly teaching, fostering collaboration and promoting reflection and active, learner-centred experiences. PATS was included in the details of the Citation. Caroline and the University of the Sunshine Coast was involved in the multi-institutional trial of PATS as part of Associate Professor Angela Carbone’s OLT National Senior Teaching Fellowship.

Dr Liam Phelan and Dr Bonnie McBain, The University of Newcastle was awarded an OLT Innovation and Development Grant in 2013 for Learning and Teaching Academic Standards (LTAS) Project for Environment and Environmental Sustainability. More details available on the OLT website

Dr Bonnie McBain received two awards from the University of Newcastle in 2013:

  • Online Teacher of the Year Award – Newcastle Postgraduate Students’ Association
  • Sessional Academic of the Year Award – Faculty of Science and Information Technology
